Car Escape

PracticeEasyPractice: not ranked
How to play
  • Drag a car or truck along its length, or tap it and use the arrow buttons. Cars and trucks only move forwards and backwards, never sideways.
  • Clear a path so the red car can reach the exit on the right edge of its row. It drives out by itself.
  • Sliding one vehicle any distance is one move; sliding the same one again straight away still counts as one. The fewest possible moves is shown.
  • Fewest moves wins, then the fastest time. Easy boards take about 8 to 15 moves, medium 20 to 30 and hard 35 or more.

Practice puzzles are never ranked: they don’t count for leaderboards, streaks, statistics or achievements.

About Car Escape

Car Escape is the classic sliding car park puzzle on a 6 × 6 grid. Cars take two squares and trucks three, and each one can only slide forwards and backwards along its own length. The exit is on the right edge of the red car’s row: shuffle the others out of the way until it can drive out. Every board is solved completely before it is used, so the fewest possible moves is shown next to your count.

How to play Car Escape

  1. Drag a car or truck along its length, or tap it and use the arrow buttons. Cars and trucks only move forwards and backwards, never sideways.
  2. Clear a path so the red car can reach the exit on the right edge of its row. It drives out by itself.
  3. Sliding one vehicle any distance is one move; sliding the same one again straight away still counts as one. The fewest possible moves is shown.
  4. Fewest moves wins, then the fastest time. Easy boards take about 8 to 15 moves, medium 20 to 30 and hard 35 or more.

Tips & strategy

  • Work backwards: look at what blocks the red car, then at what blocks each of those vehicles.
  • Trucks in the red car’s way are the usual problem; they need two clear squares above or below them to move out.
  • Sliding a vehicle all the way in one go counts as one move, so think before nudging it one square at a time.
  • If a vehicle seems stuck, the answer is often to move a different one twice.
  • Undo is free, and Start over takes you back to the first position, so explore as much as you like.

Car Escape: questions and answers

What counts as a move?

Sliding one car or truck any distance in one direction. Sliding the same vehicle again straight away, even back the other way, still counts as the same move.

Is the fewest possible moves really the minimum?

Yes. Every board was searched completely when it was made, so the number shown is exact. Matching it is a perfect solve.

How is Car Escape ranked?

Fewest moves first, then the fastest time.

What changes with the difficulty?

Easy boards need about 8 to 15 moves, medium boards 20 to 30, and hard boards 35 or more, with more vehicles packed in.
