If you have a favourite kind of animal, there is a quiz for it. The Bird Quiz, Mammals, Ocean Animals, Insects and Bugs, and Reptiles and Amphibians each go deep on one group, while the Dinosaur Quiz travels back in time with plenty of fossils from Alberta and Saskatchewan. Dog and cat lovers can test themselves on breeds, history and behaviour, and the general Animal Quiz mixes everything together.
Each daily set has 10 questions that start easy and finish hard, and every answer comes with a short explanation. We check animal facts against reliable references and avoid records that are likely to change, so you can trust what you learn. You will also find many Canadian species, from the common loon and the snowy owl to the beluga and the wood bison.
To improve, pay attention to the explanations: they often hold the clue to the next question. Notice patterns, such as many young mammals being called pups or calves, then watch for the exceptions. Play daily and you will soon know your caribou from your moose. Each quiz also makes a good conversation starter for a family walk, a nature hike or a trip to the zoo.
