NewDaily challenge for Oct 31Scores are saved on this device
How to play
  • Drag down anywhere on the range to draw the bow, move to aim (up raises the sight) and let go to shoot. Let go before half way and the bow is let down without a shot.
  • On a keyboard, hold Space (or the Hold to draw button) to draw, aim with the arrow keys or W, A, S, D, and let go of Space to shoot.
  • The sight sways: it settles half a second after full draw, stays steadiest for about two seconds, then shakes more and more. Watch the wind dial and the flags and aim into the wind.
  • Three arrows at 18, 30 and 50 metres, then a bonus end at 70 metres where the target slides. Ten for the gold, an X in the very middle. The daily challenge has the same wind for everyone; scores stay on this device.

About Archery

Archery puts you on the shooting line of an outdoor range in real 3D, a bow in your hands and a ten ring target down the lane. Drag down to draw, steady the sight and let go: the arrow flies on a true arc, slowed by the air and pushed by the wind, and the camera follows it all the way into the boss to show where it stuck. A round is four ends of three arrows, at 18, 30 and 50 metres, then a bonus end at 70 metres where the target slides from side to side and you have to lead it.

How to play Archery

  1. Drag down anywhere on the range to draw the bow, move to aim (up raises the sight) and let go to shoot. Let go before half way and the bow is let down without a shot.
  2. On a keyboard, hold Space (or the Hold to draw button) to draw, aim with the arrow keys or W, A, S, D, and let go of Space to shoot.
  3. The sight sways: it settles half a second after full draw, stays steadiest for about two seconds, then shakes more and more. Watch the wind dial and the flags and aim into the wind.
  4. Three arrows at 18, 30 and 50 metres, then a bonus end at 70 metres where the target slides. Ten for the gold, an X in the very middle. The daily challenge has the same wind for everyone; scores stay on this device.

Tips & strategy

  • Release in the steady window: the sight settles about half a second after full draw and starts to shake again after about two and a half seconds.
  • Aim into the wind. At 18 metres a breeze barely matters; at 70 metres a crosswind of 4 m/s moves the arrow about a third of a metre.
  • Start low: the sight begins each arrow a little below the gold, so bring it up into the middle rather than chasing it down.

Archery: questions and answers

How do I shoot on a phone?

Put your finger anywhere on the range and drag down to draw the bow. Once it is fully drawn, move your finger to aim and lift it to shoot.

What is the X ring?

The small ring inside the ten. An X scores ten like any gold, and Xs are counted separately as a tie breaker, as in real archery.

Why does the sight move?

Holding a drawn bow is tiring. The sight wobbles while it settles, stays steadiest for about two seconds, then shakes more the longer you hold.
