How to play
  • Each player gets 13 cards. Call how many tricks you expect to win, from 1 to 8 (or up to 13 in the settings). Spades are always trumps.
  • Follow the suit led, and play a higher card of that suit than any already played if you can. With none of the suit led you must play a spade, higher than any spade already played if you can; otherwise play any card.
  • The highest spade wins the trick, or else the highest card of the suit led. The winner leads next.
  • Make your call and score it, plus 0.1 for each extra trick; miss it and lose it. After five rounds the highest total wins. Scores are saved on this device.

About Call Break

Call Break, also known as Lakdi, is the trick-taking card game loved across Nepal and India. Four players get thirteen cards each and spades are always trumps. Before every round each player calls the number of tricks they expect to win: make your call and you score it, miss it and you lose it. Here you play five rounds against three robots.

Tips & strategy

  • Count your sure tricks: aces, protected kings and long spades. A short side suit with spare spades is often one more.
  • Call a little low rather than high: a missed call costs the whole call, an extra trick adds only 0.1.
  • Players who are out of a suit must trump it, so lead that suit only if you hold the high spades.

Call Break: questions and answers

How does Call Break scoring work?

If you win at least your call, you score the call plus 0.1 for each extra trick: a call of 4 with 6 tricks scores 4.2. If you win fewer, you lose your call: a call of 4 with 3 tricks scores −4. After five rounds the highest total wins.

Must I always beat the cards already played?

Yes, when you can. Follow the suit led and play higher than the highest card of that suit, unless a spade has already trumped the trick. With none of the suit led you must play a spade, higher than any spade already played if you can.

Why were the cards dealt again?

In the standard rules a hand with no spade, or with no jack, queen, king or ace, is thrown in and the cards are dealt again. You can switch this off in the settings.

Can I play against people?

Not yet: Call Break here is against three robots, Easy, Normal or Hard. The daily deal gives everyone the same cards, and scores stay on your device.
