About Big Word
Big Word stretches the classic guessing game to six letters. Longer words give you more clues to work with but also more ways to go wrong, so it suits players who find five letters too easy. The rules and the hints are the same as in Daily Word.
How to play Big Word
- Type a six-letter word and press Enter. Every guess must be a real word.
- Each letter is marked: ✓ right letter in the right spot, ↔ in the word but in another spot, or not in the word at all.
- Letters can appear more than once. A letter is only marked as many times as it appears in the answer.
- You have six guesses. Fewest guesses wins, then the fastest time.
Tips & strategy
- Six-letter words usually have two or three vowels; a first guess with three vowels shows you which ones matter.
- Watch for common pairs such as TH, ER, IN and ST, which turn up in many six-letter words.
- Endings such as -ING, -ER and -ED are common, so test them once you know a few letters.
- Use each guess to place the letters you know and try new ones at the same time.
