About Bridges
Bridges is a calm logic puzzle on a small sea of numbered islands. Each number says how many bridges must touch that island. Bridges run straight across or down to the nearest island, one or two between the same pair, and never cross. Give every island its number and link them all into one group to win. Each sea has exactly one answer, reached by reasoning alone.
How to play Bridges
- Each island’s number is how many bridges it needs. Tap an island, then a neighbour in the same row or column, to build a bridge (or drag from one to the other).
- Do the same again for a double bridge; a third time takes it away. Tapping a bridge itself works too. At most two bridges join the same two islands.
- Bridges run straight across or down over open sea: they never cross another bridge or pass over an island. Every island must end up joined into one group.
- Easy seas are 7 × 7, medium 9 × 9 and hard 11 × 11. Every puzzle has exactly one solution. Fastest time wins; fewer bridge changes break ties.
Tips & strategy
- An island whose number is twice its neighbours has no choice: an 8 takes doubles on all four sides, a 6 with three neighbours takes three doubles.
- A 1 next to another 1 can never link to it: the pair would be cut off from everyone else. The same goes for a double between two 2s.
- An island with only one neighbour left to reach sends all its bridges there. Check islands hemmed in by the edge or by bridges already built.
- The option that shows the bridges still needed makes the numbers count down as you build.
Bridges: questions and answers
When is the puzzle solved?
When every island has exactly its number of bridges, no bridges cross, and all the islands are joined into one group.
How do I remove a bridge?
Build it again: one bridge becomes two, and a third tap or drag takes both away. Tapping the bridge does the same, and Undo takes back your last change.
Can a puzzle have two answers?
No. Every daily sea is checked by a computer solver, and only seas with exactly one solution are used, so you never need to guess.
How is Bridges ranked?
By time, fastest first; fewer bridge changes break ties. Only a member’s first solve of the day counts for the leaderboard.
