Tents & Trees

PracticeMediumPractice: not ranked
How to play
  • Every tree needs one tent of its own in a square right beside it: above, below, left or right, never diagonally. There are exactly as many tents as trees.
  • Tents never touch each other, not even at a corner. The number at the start of each row and column is how many tents it holds.
  • Tap a square for a tent, tap again to mark it as grass (a note for squares that can’t hold a tent), and once more to clear it. Drag across squares to paint grass; tap a finished row or column number to fill the rest of it with grass.
  • Easy fields are 6 × 6, medium 8 × 8 and hard 10 × 10. Every field has one answer, found by logic alone. Fastest time wins; fewer changes break ties.

Practice puzzles are never ranked: they don’t count for leaderboards, streaks, statistics or achievements.

About Tents & Trees

Tents & Trees is a calm logic puzzle set on a campsite. Every tree needs a tent of its own in a square right next to it, across or down. Tents never touch each other, not even diagonally, and the numbers beside each row and column tell you how many tents it holds. Mark the squares that cannot take a tent as grass, and the field slowly closes in until every tent has only one place left. Easy days are 6 × 6, medium 8 × 8 and hard 10 × 10, and every field has one answer that you can reach by logic alone.

How to play Tents & Trees

  1. Every tree needs one tent of its own in a square right beside it: above, below, left or right, never diagonally. There are exactly as many tents as trees.
  2. Tents never touch each other, not even at a corner. The number at the start of each row and column is how many tents it holds.
  3. Tap a square for a tent, tap again to mark it as grass (a note for squares that can’t hold a tent), and once more to clear it. Drag across squares to paint grass; tap a finished row or column number to fill the rest of it with grass.
  4. Easy fields are 6 × 6, medium 8 × 8 and hard 10 × 10. Every field has one answer, found by logic alone. Fastest time wins; fewer changes break ties.

Tips & strategy

  • Start with the zeros: every square in a row or column marked 0 is grass, and so is every square that is not beside a tree.
  • A tent turns its eight neighbours into grass. Mark them at once, or switch on Grass round tents to see them.
  • When a line has exactly as many open squares as tents still to place, they are all tents. Tap a finished number to fill the rest with grass.
  • A tree with only one free square beside it has found its tent. Pairs of trees that share squares often settle each other.

Tents & Trees: questions and answers

Can a tent sit diagonally from its tree?

No. Each tent is directly above, below, left or right of its own tree. Diagonal squares only matter for the rule that tents never touch.

Are the grass marks checked?

No. Grass is a note for yourself. The puzzle is solved as soon as the tents are right, whatever the other squares show.

How is Tents & Trees ranked?

By time, fastest first; fewer changes break ties. Only a member’s first solve of the day counts for the leaderboard.
