About Computers and Technology Quiz
Computers went from room-sized machines to the phone in your pocket within a lifetime, and the Computers and Technology Quiz covers that story and how the machines work. Questions ask about the pioneers, from Charles Babbage and Ada Lovelace to Alan Turing and Grace Hopper, the first electronic computers, the transistor and the chip, and the World Wide Web. Others explain bits and bytes, processors, memory and storage, operating systems and programs, and how the internet finds a website through addresses, domain names and secure connections. Each answer has a short explanation in plain words, with no jargon left unexplained.

Tips & strategy
- A byte is 8 bits, and each step up from kilobyte to megabyte to gigabyte is a factor of about a thousand.
- The internet and the World Wide Web are not the same: the web is one service that runs on the internet, beside email and others.
- Many abbreviations explain themselves once spelled out: CPU is the central processing unit and RAM is random-access memory.
