How to play
  • Press Start for the first of ten questions. The clock starts with it and stops at your last answer.
  • Each question asks about forces, energy, light, sound, electricity and magnets.
  • Tap an answer, or press 1 to 4 (or A to D) on a keyboard. Answers are final: you see the right one and a one-line explanation, then press Next.
  • Most correct answers ranks first, then the fastest time. Only a member’s first finished quiz of the day counts for the leaderboard.

About Physics Quiz

You see lightning before you hear thunder because light travels about a million times faster than sound. The Physics Quiz is full of everyday puzzles like that one: why things fall, float or spin, how energy changes from one form to another, how light bends and sound travels, and how magnets and electricity work. Famous names such as Isaac Newton, Albert Einstein and the Canadian radio pioneer Reginald Fessenden appear along the way, with dates checked and firsts worded carefully. The hard questions ask about laws and units, but the explanations keep them simple.

Tips & strategy

  • Units carry clues: newtons measure force, joules energy, watts power and hertz how often something repeats.
  • Newton’s three laws explain most questions about motion: inertia, force equals mass times acceleration, and action and reaction.
  • For light and sound, remember that sound needs something to travel through, while light can cross empty space.

Physics Quiz: questions and answers

Is there any math in the Physics Quiz?
