About Dog Breeds Quiz
Canada gave the world two famous breeds: the Newfoundland, a gentle giant bred to help fishers, and the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever, which lures ducks by playing at the water’s edge. The Dog Breeds Quiz covers breeds from every corner of the world, what they were bred for, how dogs see, hear and smell, and famous dogs from films, history and space. Breed origins were checked against the standards of the international kennel federation and the Canadian Kennel Club, and questions where the breed’s name would give the answer away were dropped.

Tips & strategy
- Think about the job a breed was made for: herding, hunting, guarding or sitting on laps explains its size, coat and energy.
- Breed groups help: terriers chase small animals underground, hounds hunt by sight or smell, and spaniels and retrievers work with hunters.
- Cold-weather breeds such as huskies and malamutes have thick double coats and come from the far north.
