About Capitals of Africa Quiz

Africa has 54 countries, more than any other continent, and its capitals range from huge cities such as Cairo and Kinshasa to small, quiet ones that few people outside the country could name. The Capitals of Africa Quiz is the hardest of the regional capitals quizzes, with most of its questions at the hard level. Each day starts with a few well-known capitals, then moves through the rest of the continent, from the Sahel to the islands of the Indian Ocean. Countries with more than one capital, such as South Africa, come with an explanation of what each city does.

Tips & strategy

  • Split the continent into regions, such as North, West, East, Central and Southern Africa, and learn each set separately.
  • Many West African capitals are on the coast, while several in the Sahel and East Africa lie far inland.
  • Former colonial names can mislead: check the explanation, which often mentions a capital’s older name.

Capitals of Africa Quiz: questions and answers

Why is this quiz harder than the others?

Most African capitals are less familiar to players in Canada, so the bank holds more hard questions than easy ones. The first questions of each day are still the well-known capitals.

How are countries with two capitals handled?

The question names the city it asks about, and the explanation says which capital holds the government, the parliament or the courts.

How many questions does the Capitals of Africa Quiz have?

233 checked questions: 10 easy, 60 medium and 163 hard. Each day takes ten, easiest first, and a question doesn’t come back until its level has been used up.
